Video Editor

Hoffman Media is seeking a Video Editor who will be an integral part of the Video Team to create new short- and long-form video content for the company’s websites, Zoom events, YouTube channels, and social media platforms.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Shoot, edit, and produce video content for digital platforms (web, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Zoom)
  2. Create content through Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop to create Videos, GIF, etc.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in related field
  4. Report directly to the Digital Video Producer
  5. Team player
  6. Ability to multitask
  7. Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and think creatively
  8. Availability to work long, irregular hours, including nights and weekends
  9. Excellent editing and proofreading skills, including superior attention to detail
  10. Strong knowledge of

Video Producer

The Hoffman Media in-house Video Team seeks a talented and highly motivated Video Producer to help us tell our stories. Someone who showcases excellence in video production and is passionate about bringing sight and sound together to tell a compelling story.

Our team knows video is only half the story, so we’re seeking a producer who is proficient with all aspects of video production. While you take direction well, your inherent creative instinct allows you to speak up to help drive the creative forward.

Job Summary

  1. Manage day-to-day production, direct and shoot best in class content
  2. Collaborate with editorial and digital teams to ideate and develop new content
  3. Lead planning sessions
  4. Skilled in lighting, production, and editing
  5. Assist in production budgets and manage production deadlines
  6. Manage and mentor a team of video professionals

Essential Job Functions

  1. Assist in developing and nurturing new video series and episode ideas
  2. Plan production
  3. Oversee and assist with production and editing. The ability to shoot and edit video is essential.
  4. Ensure content is published

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in related field
  2. +5 years’ experience

Test Kitchen Assistant/Prep Cook
We are an established food, lifestyle, and entertaining publishing company with an excellent opportunity for an individual with culinary experience and a love for food who is interested in working in a support role in a test kitchen environment. Our ideal candidate will be an energetic and detail-oriented team member who will proactively assist our food stylists and recipe developers with food prep. They will thoroughly test and annotate chef-submitted recipes for accuracy/clarity as needed. Must be efficient, organized, have excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Experience preparing a wide range of foods, both sweet and savory, is essential. Culinary experience and/or education is required.

In addition to food prep, this person will have responsibilities in helping to maintain overall test kitchen operations, such as overseeing grocery orders, monitoring test kitchen supplies, and coordinating test kitchen maintenance. Test Kitchen Recipe Developers-Baking/Pastry and Savory
We are seeking highly motivated, detail-oriented individuals with a minimum of 3 years of experience in professional cooking, baking, test kitchens, the magazine industry, or similar environment to work in our test kitchen as savory/pastry recipe developers. In these fast-paced positions, you must have the ability to develop recipes based on editorial parameters/themes. We require strong baking/cooking skills, a passion for food, and the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve recipes for optimization. A food-related college or culinary degree is preferred. Culinary experience, project management, and food-styling expertise are a plus. Must have Microsoft Office skills and the ability to write recipes according to provided recipe style guide. Full-time in Birmingham, AL.
