  • Communications that are unsolicited, unexpected, or are from an individual or a website with which you are unfamiliar, or whose domain name is inconsistent with that used by the actual business.
  • Correspondence from free e-mail accounts, like Yahoo, Hotmail, or Gmail. A Hoffman Media employee will not solicit candidates through a non-Hoffman Media email address or phone number.
  • Invitations to meet in video chat rooms (e.g., Google Hangouts), which we do not currently utilize.
  • Requests to provide payment to participate in the hiring process (e.g., purchasing work equipment, phone, or something similar). Hoffman Media does not use recruiting or placement agencies that charge candidates advanced fees of any kind. We also do not provide advances to cover initial expenses, such as computers or other supplies.
  • Communications that do not include information about a specific job opening (or the job description is vague) and/or extend a job offer without an interview.
  • Job opportunities that come from people you do not know and appear too good to be true.
  • Communications where the recruiter claims to have seen your resume on a site with which you are not familiar.
  • Communications at the application phase requesting your social security number, driver’s license, date of birth, bank account information, or other sensitive personal data.

Sales Development Lead, 83 Press

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our book publishing imprint, 83 Press, as Sales Development Lead. Success in this role will be measured by your ability to expand our market reach, form strategic partnerships, and build a robust pipeline of compelling book projects. By fully managing the sales process from lead sourcing to deal closure, this role will drive key performance indicators and play a pivotal part in the growth of 83 Press.

Responsibilities:

  1. Pipeline Development & Relationship Management:
    • Build and nurture a robust pipeline of book projects, collaborating with authors, content creators, agents, restaurateurs, etc.
    • Identify emerging trends and opportunities to strategically shape our book portfolio.
    • Cultivate relationships with existing clients, ensuring satisfaction and loyalty through ongoing collaboration.
  2. Product and Service Expansion:
    • Work closely with internal teams to identify and develop services that align with market demands and enrich our book project pipeline and verticals that we operate within.
    • Introduce ideas to clients that enhance their projects and align with current industry trends.
  3. Sales and Revenue Generation:
    • Develop sales strategies contributing to the growth and diversification of our book publishing revenue streams.
  4. Collaboration with Internal Teams:
    • Collaborate seamlessly with editorial, marketing, and production teams to ensure the smooth execution of business development initiatives and the successful realization of book projects.
    • Provide insights to inform product development and marketing strategies.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Years of Experience: Five or more years of experience in a sales position; experience in the publishing industry preferred but not required.
  • Location: Preference to be located and work from our HQ in Birmingham, AL, but open to remote candidates in the following states: AL, GA, FL, LA, OH, TN, WV.
  • Pipeline Focus: Demonstrated ability to strategically build and manage a robust sales pipeline.
  • Sales and Relationship Building: Proven track record in sales and building lasting relationships.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey the value proposition of our publishing services.
  • Results-Driven: A self-motivated and results-oriented mindset, with a history of achieving and surpassing goals.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt strategies to changes in the publishing landscape, staying informed about industry developments and adjusting approaches accordingly.
