Hoffman Media, LLC seeks qualified applicants for its administrative, circulation, editorial, advertising, and production departments. The following positions are located in our corporate office in Birmingham, Alabama.
We are seeking an individual to photograph assignments ranging from food to interiors, taking a leadership role in a team environment to contribute visual thoughts and opinions.
Responsibilities will include photographing in an editorial fashion, editing RAW images, moving edited images to the servers in a corporate structure, and maintaining assigned equipment, including vans and photography studios. This individual must be skilled with digital photography, lighting, composition, and Photoshop. Bachelor’s degree in Photography or similar field is preferred, and basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is a plus. Some overnight travel is required and can vary. This is a full-time position working from our corporate office in Birmingham, Alabama. Must provide digital portfolio for consideration.
Managing Editor, Cooking with Paula Deen magazine
We are seeking a Managing Editor for Cooking with Paula Deen magazine that’s passionate about Southern food and delivering quality content to our readers. The Managing Editor will oversee the production of each issue of this publication to make sure deadlines are met and the brand is executed. Duties include managing staff writers, working with our test kitchen, overseeing photo shoots, editing stories for publication, and producing and writing engaging editorial packages. Some travel required.
Editorial Assistant, Southern Lady magazine
We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to provide administrative and creative support to our editorial team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the Southern lifestyle, including entertaining, decorating, food, and travel. Some responsibilities include handling all reader calls and correspondence, maintaining resource information and files on products and designers, managing some content for the website and social media, assisting with large photo shoots, some writing, and helping when needed with travel and accommodations for writers and photographers. Magazine-industry experience is helpful. A degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related field is preferred. Must have proficient computer skills and be an excellent time manager. Entry level position.
Assistant Editor, Louisiana Cookin’ magazine
Love dishing with chefs and home cooks around Louisiana? Come join our team at Louisiana Cookin’. The ideal candidate should have editorial experience, be a highly motivated self-starter, possess great writing skills, and be able to work in a deadline-oriented environment. Some responsibilities include producing editorial content for print and web, event management, researching Cajun and Creole food traditions, and keeping up with food trends. Some travel required. The Marketing Manager is to ensure projects get done on time and under budget. The Marketing Manager will collaborate with the Marketing Director to make sure that each project gets the resources and attention it needs to be successful. This person will also be responsible for handling correspondence with each brand and communicating with other departments within the company to keep marketing campaigns on track.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Support the Marketing Director by scheduling and organizing the creation of marketing campaigns
- Work with the graphic design team to help deliver content that meets brand specifications
- Media planning and buying
- Prepare communications to brand editors in response to questions or to provide clarification on an ongoing project
- Submit ideas for marketing programs designed to enhance and grow the company’s brands
- Monitor marketing industry news, best practices, and e-mail ideas, and submit reports on emerging trends to management each month
- Work with marketing team to coordinate day-to-day activities that lead to the completion of projects and tasks
Qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Advertising
- 3 – 5 years marketing, advertising, or graphic design experience
- Digital Media Buying experience for Amazon and Google AdWords
- Experience in multichannel marketing, specifically print, web, e-mail, social media, and video
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Available for travel 20%
Food Stylist/Recipe Developer
Love creating recipes and preparing them for their magazine debut? We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the magazine industry or similar environment. In this fast-paced position, you must have the ability to develop recipes based on editorial parameters/themes and prepare them for photography. We require strong/well rounded cooking and baking skills, a passion for working in test kitchens, and the ability to troubleshoot submitted recipes that do not perform. Food-styling experience and a college/culinary degree are needed. Must have Microsoft Office skills and the ability to edit recipes according to provided recipe style guide.
