  • Correspondence from free e-mail accounts, like Yahoo, Hotmail, or Gmail. A Hoffman Media employee will not solicit candidates through a non-Hoffman Media email address or phone number.
  • Invitations to meet in video chat rooms (e.g., Google Hangouts), which we do not currently utilize.
  • Requests to provide payment to participate in the hiring process (e.g., purchasing work equipment, phone, or something similar). Hoffman Media does not use recruiting or placement agencies that charge candidates advanced fees of any kind. We also do not provide advances to cover initial expenses, such as computers or other supplies.
  • Communications that do not include information about a specific job opening (or the job description is vague) and/or extend a job offer without an interview.
  • Job opportunities that come from people you do not know and appear too good to be true.
  • Communications where the recruiter claims to have seen your resume on a site with which you are not familiar.
  • Communications at the application phase requesting your social security number, driver’s license, date of birth, bank account information, or other sensitive personal data.

Accounts Payable Coordinator
 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Coordinator to join our finance team in Birmingham, AL. This position plays a critical role in managing the company’s accounts payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor payments, and maintaining strong internal controls. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Accounts Payable Processing: Process high-volume accounts payable transactions in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring proper coding, approval, and documentation
  • Vendor Maintenance: Maintain vendor master file, including setup of new vendors, updates to existing vendor information, and ensuring W-9 compliance
  • 1099 Management: Manage the annual 1099 reporting process, including tracking 1099-eligible vendors, reconciling payments, and ensuring timely filing with tax authorities
  • Expense Reporting Administration: Administer the company expense reporting system, providing training and support to employees, reviewing expense reports for compliance with company policies, and processing reimbursements
  • Payment Coordination: Coordinate and process check and ACH payments, ensuring accurate and timely payment to vendors while optimizing cash flow
  • Prepaid Expense Tracking: Monitor and track prepaid expenses, ensuring proper accounting treatment and timely amortization
  • Journal Entries: Prepare routine and non-routine journal entries related to accounts payable, accruals, and prepaid expenses
  • Account Reconciliations: Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliations for accounts payable and related accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies
  • Filing and Documentation: Maintain organized filing systems (both physical and electronic) for accounts payable documentation in compliance with company policies and audit requirements
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management

Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounts payable or related accounting function
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, internal controls, and GAAP principles
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred:

  • Experience with digital transformation initiatives and process automation in accounts payable
  • Experience with Sage 100 accounting system
  • Knowledge of 1099 reporting requirements and tax compliance
  • Experience with electronic payment systems and vendor portals

Education: 

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position is based in Birmingham, AL. and operates in a professional office environment.

Brand Partnership Representative
 

This individual will be focused on bringing consumer packaged goods brand partners into Hoffman Media through custom cookbooks, branded content, marketing services, and integrated advertising programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop new brand partnerships for 83 Press cookbooks, collaborative publishing projects, and content campaigns.
  • Build relationships with CPG and food/lifestyle brands to secure sponsorships, advertising, and marketing integrations.
  • Work cross-functionally with editorial, creative, and marketing teams to develop customized partnership proposals.
  • Represent Hoffman Media and 83 Press at key trade shows and industry events.
  • Crosstrain to sell integrated advertising campaigns across Hoffman Media brands.

Desired Experience:

  • Ideally, 5 years in brand development, partnership sales, or account management.
  • Established relationships with mid-to-large CPG, food, or lifestyle brands.
  • Experience working in publishing, event sponsorship, media sales, or an industry where CPG relationships are key is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a consultative sales approach.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.

Position can be remote from one of the following states: AL, GA, FL, LA, OH, TN, or WV.
