In the gloaming, the Reuss River is awash
with light. Downriver from Lake Lucerne,
Christmas adornments glisten over the dark
waters. Sturdy evergreens trimmed with
strands of lights line both banks. Spilling out
onto the streets, the golden luminosity draws
passers-by into the warmth of fne hotel lob-
bies and nearby restaurants.
