“As I grow older, I like more calm
in my life,” says homeowner Pat Camp,
who enjoys entertaining friends and
relaxing with her husband on their
sandstone-tiled terrace, opposite. A
cluster of delphiniums and other sea-
sonal blooms add color at the borders
of this inviting garden veranda, and
a retaining wall offers just enough
privacy from the sweeping golf course
beyond. “Blue flowers in the landscape
are serene,” she adds. “Nature always
provides a great palette of its own.”
The phrase “comforts of home” means something
different to everyone. For these empty nesters, it meant
creating a refuge away from the chaos of the
world with quiet, breathable spaces, stippled sunlight,
and a covetable gathering of antiques from their
well-traveled past.
